IFTPS Standards of Conduct

As a member of the Institute for Thermal Processing Specialists (IFTPS), I pledge to:

• Continuously enhance my knowledge and understanding of thermal processing through education, training, professional development, and collaboration with colleagues.
• Comply with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards to the best of my knowledge, particularly in matters affecting consumer safety and public health.
• Conduct myself with honesty, integrity, and professionalism in all professional activities.
• Avoid making false, misleading, or deceptive statements to the public, industry, or fellow professionals.
• Promote a greater understanding of thermal processing and its critical role in ensuring food safety and consumer protection.
• Maintain high standards of personal and professional conduct that reflect positively on the Institute and the profession.
• Treat fellow members, colleagues, and industry professionals with respect and refrain from the dissemination of malicious, defamatory, or knowingly false information.
• Avoid any actions that could exploit, misrepresent, or otherwise harm the Institute, the thermal processing profession, or the industries it serves.
• Support the mission and objectives of IFTPS and abide by the Institute’s Bylaws, policies, and resolutions as adopted by the Board of Directors.

By maintaining these standards, members contribute to the advancement of thermal processing, the protection of public health, and the continued integrity of the Institute and its profession.
