About IFTPS

Founded in 1982, the Institute for Thermal Processing Specialists (IFTPS) is the leading global organization dedicated to advancing the science and practice of thermal processing. With more than 800 members representing industry, academia, government, and regulatory agencies in over 27 countries, IFTPS serves as a trusted resource for education, collaboration, and professional development within the thermal processing community.

IFTPS was established by a group of industry professionals committed to promoting technical excellence, consistent standards, and the exchange of knowledge among those involved in the production of safe, shelf-stable foods and other thermally processed products. Today, the Institute continues that mission by fostering communication and cooperation among processors, researchers, equipment manufacturers, consultants, and regulatory professionals.

Through its Annual Meeting, virtual symposiums, technical committees, and educational programs, IFTPS provides members with access to the latest research, emerging technologies, regulatory updates, and industry best practices. The Institute also supports the next generation of professionals through student programs, awards, and opportunities for technical engagement and networking.

At its core, IFTPS is dedicated to advancing food safety, promoting scientific innovation, and supporting the professionals responsible for thermal processing around the world.
